Commercial Service Market Insight Interviews

 

Mr. Jin Guowei, vice director of the Dalian Bureau of Information Industry, discusses opportunities for U.S. software companies in China with Richard Craig, Acting Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Shenyang, China.

Mr. Jin explains strategies that U.S. companies should use to enter China's software industry. He pays particular attention to the market in Dalian. He also discusses how U.S. companies can use the China International Software & Information Service Fair to find the Chinese partners that they will need to be successful in China.

Mr. Craig discusses how the U.S. Commercial Service in China can help U.S. companies enter the Chinese software market generally as well as specifically by using the China International Software & Information Service Fair.

AmChina’s new Chairman and President Visited Dalian

On February 18-19, AmCham-China’s Chairman, John Watkins, and President, Michael Barbalas, visited the two thriving cities of Shenyang and Dalian, located in Liaoning Province. The visit was an opportunity for the chamber to meet both with local government officials and the American business community residing in the province.

During the visit, a series of meetings hosted by the United States Consulate General in Shenyang provided an opportunity for AmCham-China’s leadership to deliver key-note speeches, and share their insight on the current Chinese business climate. In addition, both speakers took time to answer questions on the current economic crisis and the Chinese government’s stimulus plan. >>more 

Seattle, Dalian go green

the 5th China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue..

The Port of Seattle and China’s Port of Dalian have agreed to work together and with other public and private sector institutions, including the City of Tacoma, on an EcoPartnership designed to advance environmental and economic sustainability.

The EcoPartnership grew out of the U.S.-China Strategic Economic Dialog that was established in 2006. Federal agencies involved in the SED and the EcoPartnership include the State Department and the Treasury Department.

John Creighton, president of the Seattle Port Commission, said the EcoPartnership effort dovetails with the ‘green port strategy’ at Seattle. 

“Dalian and Seattle are sister ports," he said. "This is a strong step toward the international cooperation our green port strategy requires.” >>more
